DARE TO BE DIFFERENT
MC Antoinette Blyth
introduced Professor Graeme Clark who once again judged the
Graeme Clark Foundation Award " Dare to be Different " .
Professor Clark enthusiastically told us of his work in
developing the bionic ear and how millions of people on the
planet have re-gained their hearing. He explained how the idea
of Dare to be Different was dear to his heart and it was with
great pleasure : To give this year's Award to Julie Goldspink
for her painting "MORNING MIST 5 DAY CREEK"
With this award and a Highly
Commended plus the People's Choice Award it certainly was
Julie's night.
This was a lovely night, a
black tie event with
GUEST SPEAKER - ROB GELL
He was the gem of the evening
who in a wide- ranging commentary associated morphological
phenomena to sustainable ecological practices in the environment
as part of an initiative that was, he said, our joint
responsibility and had to become a part of our cultural lives
that we valued and shared just as we did art and music. Artists,
he said, played an important role in recording the changing
landscapes for posterity.
I received two beautifully
framed Certificates, for both my Awards which I will cherish,
and hopefully work hard this year to take out the first prize
next year.
